About Arogundade News: What's My Why?

My name is Seyi Arogundade, and I founded Arogundade News because I noticed a gap in the media landscape and how Generation Z interacts with it. I firmly believe that journalists have a responsibility to connect with people and share their stories. Unfortunately, many individuals in my generation feel that their stories are not being told accurately or represented fairly. As an outgoing senior from the University of Idaho, majoring in political science and journalism, I am convinced that many young people are often overlooked in significant conversations. Instead of waiting for an opportunity to speak, I believe it is our turn to actively participate and contribute to these discussions.

My Journalism Journey

My journey into writing began during my sophomore year of high school when I joined Lewiston High School’s newspaper, the Bengal’s Purr. In this role, I not only honed my writing skills but also took on the responsibilities of opinions and feature editor. This experience ignited a passion for journalism and reporting that has only grown stronger over the years.

During my high school years, I had the opportunity to intern at the Lewiston Tribune, where I really delved into print journalism. In my senior year, I even read the school announcements live every morning, gaining valuable experience in the field of broadcasting.

In my junior and senior years, I participated in a national organization called the Business Professionals of America. My team and I competed in news broadcasting, where I was responsible for crafting scripts, sourcing news, and appearing on camera. Remarkably, we won first place in the state both years and went on to compete in national competitions in both instances.

As an undergraduate, I immersed myself in various journalistic opportunities. I took courses related to my field, served as a copy editor for Blot magazine, and even had the privilege of writing for a national publication. Additionally, I was interviewed for an international publication, further solidifying my passion for writing.

These experiences have not only deepened my love for writing but have also allowed me to combine my passion for politics and journalism into real-world experiences.
